In honor of black history…I wrote a poem.

To be BLACK means to love and admire the skin that so many hate and disrespect.

To be BLACK means to laugh and find joy in places where your laughter is not welcome.

To be BLACK means to be born in a suit of armor because you were also born with a target on your back.

To be BLACK means to live harder and love even harder.

To be BLACK means to radiate joy from the tops of our crowns to the soles on our feet.

To be BLACK means to be multifaceted. To be be imitated, but never duplicated.

To be BLACK means to be EVERYTHING and I love it.
