Before I get into the details of this amazing book, let me preface this by saying that the genre of romance is fairly new to me. I read a couple in college, but I grew up thinking romance books were only the harlequin romance novels that were sold in the grocery store. You know, the ones with Fabio riding a horse with some distressed woman on the cover. My latest intro to romance included more diverse characters, yet still, something felt missing. The black romance was missing. Romance that I could 100% relate to. A woman who looks like me dating a man who looks like the men I’ve been in relationships with. Now don’t get me wrong, I still read and like books with Black characters in interracial relationships or relationships where none of the characters are Black, but it’s nothing like reading about characters where who don’t have to explain cultural clues to each. They both just get it and they both can say nigga. It’s the little things. 😉
LOVE TO SEE IT!!!!

Now, let’s get into this book review.
SYNOPSIS:
Elle and Miller have been best friends for 7 years. The tension between the two is clear to everyone around them, including Miller, but Elle is the only one who can’t see. Even as her heart secretly wants Miller, she is too afraid to see past her fears to let him in. She doesn’t want to ruin their friendship by giving in to the love and lust she feels for him. Miller, having bid his time for far too long, decides it is time to open Elle’s eyes.
Elle’s past haunts her and makes her desperate to find love. She was abandoned by her parents when she was three and sent into the foster care system. Most of her life was spent looking for love in all the wrong places. We watch her go on date after date to be treated like shit by these assholes who are only after one thing. Elle doesn’t give up though and my heart went out to her because she deserved all of the love. She only has two people in her life who love her, her best friends Bliss and Miller. But she wants more, she deserves more.

Miller is EVERYTHING I want in a man. He’s fine, got a beard, smells good, tall, BLACK, patient, and soft on the inside but tough on the outside. He LOVES him some Elle, and I couldn’t get enough of that. He would accompany her on all her sketchy online dates hanging back just to make sure she was safe. He cheered her up when the asshole stood her up or showed his true colors to her disadvantage. He was patient when he knew he loved her and wanted to take it further, but she was too scared to lose her friend. My favorite part about him was that he was such a softie, and he was riding for HARD for Elle. He wasn’t afraid to show his feelings, and that’s dope.

In conclusion, if you love love, spice (I didn’t even talk about that, but rest assured that it’s there!!!), emotional build-up, and Black Romance, please go pick up this book. You will not be disappointed.
