For the first post of #Bloganuary, WordPress asks writers to give their younger self some advice.

In my opinion, it’s hard to give my younger self advice because there’s so much I need to tell myself, and truth be told, it would have changed my life. I’ll narrow it down to one solid piece of advice though.

Now I know that society and people’s opinions are unreliable sources when it comes to what makes a person acceptable. But so much of my younger days were spent constantly molding myself to other’s tastes only to turn around and have to do it again, and again. It was exhausting. To be liked, to be accepted, to be, dare I say it, worthy, drove a lot of my actions as a young girl.

My advice to my younger self would be simply be this: Live your life for yourself. As soon as your start to live life for others, it will never be good enough.

This is a timeless lesson, but reflecting on my one life thus far, it wraps up all that I needed to hear as a young girl.
