Writing has been with me for most of my life. It always served as a quiet talent that I didn’t even know that I had until one teacher pointed it out to me in middle school. I loved to journal, and to this day I still have my journals from middle school where I would document the most important moments of my life.
Writing was so enjoyable to me that I went on to major in college and I absolutely loved it. College was definitely where I gained my stride in writing. Where I first began to think of myself as a writer. I loved studying it and doing it formally, but I also allowed it to be an extension of who I was and what I experienced so my writing often varied depending on the state of my life. The beauty of writing is whether you do it as a hobby, a career, or for school, it’s still a part to be My professional and personal writing could all fit into the large puzzle piece that has been my life journey thus far.
Some of my proudest moments, the moments that have allowed me to have confidence in myself are rooted in my writing. Who I have become as a person has been made better because of my writing. I like that my writing is a real reflection of me and that it helps me to make sense of my experiences and what I’m going through. It’s an outlet and a companion to helping me grow and learn myself. I like that my writing has afforded me perspectives and opportunities to build myself up as a person.
